Day-2: Shitkadi camp To Nichinai Via Shekdur

On Day 2, the trek begins as you hike from Shitkadi Camp to Nichinai, covering approximately 9-10 km in 6-7 hours. The trail starts with a gradual ascent, passing through dense pine forests and lush meadows.

After a few hours, you’ll reach Shekdur, a scenic clearing surrounded by birch trees and offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. It’s a perfect spot for a short break. From Shekdur, the trail becomes more open, with gentle climbs and streams crossing your path as you approach Nichinai Valley, your campsite for the night.

At Nichinai, set up camp amidst the tranquil alpine landscape, enjoy a hearty meal, and rest under the starlit sky to rejuvenate for the next day’s trek.

You may visit Kishansar Lake, which is approximately 1 and a half km from our campsite. If weather is not good we will use acclimatization day at Vishansar or else move towards our next campsite, rest day can be used at Gangbal camp site...

Day-5: Vishansar Lake To Gadsar Lake Via Gadsar Pass

On Day 5, you will trek from Vishansar Lake to Gadsar Lake via Gadsar Pass, covering approximately 12-14 km in 7-8 hours.

The day begins with a challenging ascent towards Gadsar Pass (at an altitude of 4,200 meters / 13,780 feet), which offers stunning views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks, valleys, and alpine landscapes. The pass is known for its high-altitude terrain, so take your time to adjust to the altitude and enjoy the magnificent views.

After crossing Gadsar Pass, the descent takes you through meadows and wildflower-filled valleys, heading toward the tranquil Gadsar Lake. Surrounded by high peaks, this beautiful lake reflects the grandeur of the surrounding landscape.

After crossing the pass, the trail begins to descend, passing through rocky terrains and alpine meadows, gradually leading to the stunning Gangbal Twin Lakes.

These pristine lakes are nestled at the foot of Harmukh Peak and offer some of the most picturesque views in the entire trek. Set up camp by the lakes, enjoy the serene atmosphere, and reflect on the beauty of the region.

Day-8: Gangabal To Naranag, Drive To Srinagar

On Day 8, your trek concludes as you descend from Gangbal to Naranag, covering approximately 9-10 km in 4-5 hours. The trail follows a gentle descent through alpine meadows, forested paths, and streams. As you approach Naranag, the landscape begins to change, offering views of the lush valleys and the quaint village.

Once you reach Naranag, you’ll be picked up by a vehicle for the drive to Srinagar, which takes approximately 2-3 hours. On arrival in Srinagar, check into your accommodation, relax, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the city. This marks the end of your Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, and you can spend the evening exploring the beautiful Dal Lake or resting after the adventure.
